Out of Eden- A Book review

Dear Mr. V S Gopal

You would need to read the book in original to get all your daubts cleared. According to Stephen Oppenheimer, modern Africans came from Homo Erectus. One exodus of Homo erectus from Africa gave rise to every modern  non-African human on Earth. All other types of homo species simply became extinct.

All major races such as Australoid,Mongoloid, Caucasians have come from  two  y-chromosome Groups, whom Stephan calls Able and Seth and two Mitochondrial groups(Females) whom Stephan calls Manju and Nasreen. All these groups have their origins in Indian Sub-continent.

Dating the era of Lord Ram- A Book Review

Dear Mr. Ravinnair

I must admit that I have no specialized knowledge about  things like astronomy and ancient literature. Regarding astrology, I do not believe in this as a science.

I only have common sense and I have written this review on basis of this. If you can prove to me that any of my observations are wrong, I would be most willing to admit my error.

Regarding period of Rig-Veda period, large number of research papers are available on this subject. Many are available on internet.  Please refer to these.

I would be quite happy if you  can throw some more light on this subject. Thanking you for your comments.

Dating the era of Lord Ram- A Book Review

Dear Gautam

I do not think that I have any doubts or querries.  My only point is that when we make claim of any dates, there should not be any conflicting points. If the dates mentioned in your post are to be valid, Rig-Veda should have mentioned something about Lord Ram. Rig-Vedas were composed by generations over centuries and should have mentioned Lord Ram at least somewhere.

Dating the era of Lord Ram- A Book Review

Dear GautamVig

Only problem with these dates you mention is that these dates are much earlier than Rig-Veda period. However Rig-Veda does not mention anywhere about Lord Ram.  Can anyone explain this anamoly.

Dating the era of Lord Ram- A Book Review

Dear Mr. Srivastava

I entirely agree with you. After reading the book I tried to contact the author as well as publisher by e-mail. I never received any reply. Only thing I know is that the book is published by Roopa & Co. You may try their distributors in your city. Incidently I never bought this book. A friend gifted it to me for my views, which you could read in my blog.

Thanks

Rig-Veda, A book Review

Dear Indian Vedanta

Thanks for your comment. However, I have found that word to word translations of  books like Rig-Veda, very difficult to read. Particularly if these  translations have been made two hundred years ago. The language used is difficult to comprehend.

On this count, I feel that   Wendy Doniger O’Flaherty's  translation scores. The language is simple and easy to comprehend.

On Being Irrelevant

Dear Reflector
No one can escape the truth that one day we all would be irrelevant to the society. If you are younger, it is hard to imagine so, but as you grow up, the stark reality stares you in face.

What is more important is to accept this fact and have correct attitude to life to enjoy it.

Dating the era of Lord Ram- A Book Review

Dear Mr. Mukesh

You want to know my views if Lord Rama ever existed or not. I think this whole issue has been generated by politicians for  personal gains.

Lord Rama is so completely imbibed in the minds of Indians as the ultimate  man (Poorna Purush) with qualities that we cherish, that any discussion about his  existence  is unwarranted and uncalled. His image in our minds is not going to  be dwarfed by such petty quarrels and arguments.

So how does it matter if no proof is found or not of his existence or a canal is dug across in a geographical feature in the sea.

Thanks once again for the comment.

The Vedic Age

As a hobby, I indulge in reading English translation of Rigveda. Before that I did lot of Research on the web about Vedic literature. I soon realized that the Rigveda was THE original Mahakavya of the vedic times with all other Vedas derived from it.

If you read Rigveda not from a very Religeous frame of mind, the picture that emerges in your mind is that of very intellegent  and extremely talented but highly primitive people. Their imagination can take to the beginning of the universe but their world is very small. It consists of cows, horses, kings, weapons and off course Soma. They are very materialistic. They worship the weather Gods so that they would be rich and happy in life. No Bhagvad-gita type teachings here.

I am fully aware of my short comings as a student of Rigveda. But I definitely have one advantage. Completly neutral and fresh mind.

Mahabharata war

I have read with interest the comments made by number of bloggers on my story.  However I am unable to understand following points.
1. How existence of  city of Dwarka proves that  Mahabhrata war took place ?
2. There may be indirect evidence  that Krisha and certain other characters mentioned in the epic may have actually existed. But How does it prove that a  great battle took place ?
3. Hindu religion is a very ancient and great religion. But how does that prove that a war took place ?
